No to Privatization of Hospitals!

 NO TO PRIVATIZATION OF PUBLIC HOSPITALS!

“If you ask the health department–because we had a dialogue–the DOH admitted that is the same – corporatization is actually privatization. Right now, there are some aspects that are already privatized. If you corporatize, that means wholesale privatization.”—Rep. Luz Ilagan, Gabriela Partylist

"Contrary to the claim of the proponents, Corporatization of Public Hospitals is a “Disguised Privatization”:
a) Government’s abandonment of health as a basic social service to its people and transferring the responsibility of providing this and developing infrastructures to private corporation/entity;
b) More investments of private entities in health will mean expensive health services. Health as public service becomes a commodity, a BUSINESS;
c) It violates the people’s right to free access to health care services, the right of public health workers to job security, just wages and benefits, as health services become a BUSINESS;
d) Expensive health services in GOCC Hospitals cause delays in treatment and death of patients; It will result to increase of maternal mortality rate, because poor women and underpaid health workers will not be able to access free health care services;
e) Corporatization is not the solution to the dismal health condition of the people; that people’s health depends on the government fulfillment of its mandate and responsibility to people’s health and welfare, that the state should allocate adequate budget allotment for public hospitals to ensure and improve facilities, equipment, supplies and medicines, stop user’s fee scheme in public hospitals and allocate funds for health workers benefit."
